Why is getting the right amount of sleep soooo important for mindset?
Sleep can effect your mindset in so many ways!!
First off, lack of sleep will effect your focus and cognitive clarity...which then webs out into a whole slew things.
1. When you are lacking in sleep, it's so easy for the smallest trial, challenge, or frustration to now become SUCH A BIG DEAL.
2. This can then web out, compound, build, and now you find yourself eating things that are not good choices because you are looking for that
"feel good" in the mist of chaos.
3. Not to mention all the health issues that begin to form from lack of sleep
Less active immunity protectors ... these are called natural killer cells
36% increase in curtain types of cancer
Puts you at 3x greater risk of type 2 diabetes
Increased risk of high blood pressure
48% increase for developing heart disease
3x more likely to catch a cold
Increases the aging of your brain
Which also leads to a 33% increase in dementia
4. Another contributing factor has to do with the “hunger hormones”. Studies have found that sleep deprivation can be linked to an increased appetite. How so?
Ghrelin is the hormone that signals to your brain when you’re hungry. Levels are typically high before you eat and low after you eat. When you miss out on sleep, your body makes more of the hormone, which makes you feel hungry.
Leptin is a hormone that tells your brain that you are full and suppresses hunger. When you’re fatigued, your body produces less leptin, which can leave you feeling hungry and unsatisfied.
If you don't get enough sleep your ability to think clearly, use useful, and helpful language with yourself throughout the day gets very foggy and screwed.
This also then begins to effect the decisions that you are making with your food and eating.
Not to mention, it also webs out into your family and relationships.
Which then further compounds into poor eating choices because you just want to feel better and you are looking for that "feel good" comfort.
It can be one giant snow ball that get out of control really fast.
And sometimes because you are in such a fog in your mind you don't even know that your eating habits and weight loss journey is being greatly effected.
Until you get on that scale and then wonder what happened!!!!
Sleep is so important for your mind and mindset.
It's how your brain recharges.
Especially the last 3rd of your sleeping cycle in the night/early morning. This is typically where your brain goes into REM sleep, which is the most important phase of your sleep cycle.
If this is cut short it will effect your cognitive abilities through the day as well as your emotional balance.
We all go through emotionally-charged experiences every day and throughout our lives. Those experiences get stored in the brain as memories—and sleep plays an important role in processing those memories. REM sleep in particular appears to be especially important in processing painful and difficult memories. This process helps ease the emotional sting these memories can have. It also helps your emotional mind return to a less-charged, more neutral state. This nightly emotional reset is important for your ongoing mental health. ~ Psychology Today

Circling back to the fact that lack of sleep can also greatly effect our mindset around the food choices that we are making throughout the day::
When we are placed in that situation where it's time to make a choice between healthy food or not so healthy food.
We are going to be less likely to be thinking logically and critically because our mind is in such a fog and disarray as well as our emotional state and balance is off .
We are going to be more likely just to through our arms up and stay "screw it".
We just don't have the overall strength to m
